Missed Lesson Policy

Missed Lessons (Students)

Fees reserve a space for the year at a specific, mutually agreed upon time and day.  Fees pay for that time and space, not for an hour of instructor time anytime. Whether a student attends or not, this space must be reserved for the student for the entire academic year. The studio is full year-round so there are usually no spaces to move students to for make-up times. As such, Nifty Notes is not responsible for refunding, rescheduling or providing make-up lessons for student absences.

If a student is ill with a communicable ailment, they should not come to the studio. In such cases, the class can be held via Zoom, the student can send a video of all work for feedback for the week, or the parent can attend for a parent-only session. This way they do not miss a lesson, and everyone stays healthy!

Missed Lessons (Instructor)

There are extra lessons scheduled at the end of the academic year for lessons missed by the instructor (please refer to the lesson calendar). End-of year make-up weeks are reserved for instructor absences, not student absences.  These lessons occur at the same time, day and place as the student’s regular lesson.  If the instructor misses more lessons than the make-up weeks account for, fees will be refunded or credited towards the next year. Students who do not attend scheduled make-up lessons will be considered absent and the policy for missed student lessons will apply.

If the teacher asks a student to reschedule, and they are unable to do so, that lesson will be recorded as a teacher cancellation, not a student cancellation. Students are under no obligation to inconvenience themselves to accommodate instructor re-scheduling.
